HASANZ Five Quick Questions
You should do your homework, ask the important questions and check that the Health and Safety Specialist you are considering is right for the job and the right partner for you and your organisation.
Given the number of ‘fly-by-night’ consultants entering the Health and Safety industry since the introduction of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, the Health and Safety Association of New Zealand (HASANZ) recommends that you ask the following five quick questions of a Health and Safety Specialist before you engage them. Read on to see how we measure up.
Which professional associations do you belong to (and can you prove it)?
All About People are members of several professional bodies including Health and Safety Association New Zealand (HASANZ), New Zealand Institute of Safety Management (NZISM), Business Leaders Health and Safety Forum and the Fire Protection Authority (FPA). We are more than happy to answer questions and provide evidence of our professional body membership. You can also call the bodies themselves and ask if we are members.
Can you give me examples of similar work you have done recently?
Yes. Before you start working with All About People, our Business Development team will work with you to gather your full project scope and will be able to provide you with examples of clients with similar project scope as yourself. We will also work with you to ensure that you receive a customised solution that meets your unique needs.
Are you happy for us to contact your clients about your work for them?
We are always happy to provide a reference before you start working with us. We have client testimonials on our website but if you would like a client reference, please do not hesitate to ask.
What relevant skills and experience do you have for this job?
Our team have over 30 years’ experience in workplace health and safety and risk management. Several of our team are also volunteer New Zealand Fire Service Fire Fighters with hands on experience in Fire Safety Management, Emergency Management and are medical co-responders. Our culture of safety approach means that we do not have a one size fits all solution. Instead, we work with you to strengthen the areas that you need most when reducing the risk of injury to your employees and providing ultimate peace of mind.
What qualifications and/or certification do you have?
All About People Health and Safety Specialists have a wide range of formal qualifications and experience both from New Zealand and Australia. For each project that we undertake we partner our clients with the All About People Specialist that is best suited to each project. Best fit may be determined by their formal qualifications, industry experience, personality fit (or a mix of all three). We are happy to provide Specialist CVs for your consideration.
